The Journals:
Spirit
Keeper Journals are
more than just books—they are portals to the land and soul of the American
Southwest. Each journal combines the spiritual, cultural, and environmental
elements of the American Southwest, with Kachina-inspired art serving as a
central motif. Each page offers a chance to reflect, create, and explore your
inner world. The drawings are not just decorative; they are meant to convey
deeper meanings and provide a sacred connection to the stories and forces at
play in the region. This series would make a beautifully eclectic and
meaningful collection for anyone interested in the Southwestern United States
or Native American spiritual traditions.
Perfect for:
- Daily journaling and reflections
- Sketching and creating visual art
- Recording spiritual journeys and dreams
- Gift-giving for those who love culture and art
The Story:
Creator of this series, Claire Vimala Anderson, was inspired to create
these drawings while living in Tucson, AZ from 2017-2022 and after visiting an
art gallery in Bisbee, AZ. One painting stayed with her and with the
acquisition of a grid-paper notebook and colored pencils, she began to
experiment with making her own renditions of what she had seen. Some of these drawings
are inspired directly from the Indigenous artwork of the area, but many ‘came
through’ on their own with their own energy and messages. Anderson held onto
these drawings for several years before realizing she could set them to work
for people in their journaling endeavors. It is her hope that the spirit of
these colorful beings will inspire and assist as journalists write and process
their inner worlds within these pages.
